Prototyping

Making a tangible model of our designs gives us and our customers insight into the end result. These kinds of physical, early models of a design are so-called prototypes. We make these prototypes in-house using our printers, we tinker something together ourselves or we consult our partners to get an aluminum housing milled.

Creating prototypes

We have several 3D printers in our workshop. Layer by layer, these machines convert our digital designs into plastic samples. This kind of rapid prototyping allows us to communicate clearly with our clients about our ideas and concepts.

At a later stage in the design process, we take a more professional route and have a prototype made in the chosen materials by milling at one of our partners. This model provides more insight into what the end result of the product will look like, allowing us to zoom in on the details before production.

Test and validate

In addition to using your prototype as a means of communication, it is also important to perform tests with your model. It all looks great on the computer, but to find out if your idea works you will have to make a prototype to test your idea. We call this proof of concept. To see whether parts fit together properly; how much force is needed for a click finger; or to see the proportions of the product in relation to its environment.

From prototype to mass production

When the final prototype has been approved, we will work together with our client to find out how the design can be realized serially or into mass production. Serial production involves completely different knowledge and techniques than creating one-off prototypes. Thanks to our experience, we understand both processes and we look for the most cost and energy-effective method for each individual product.
